ElectricSailboat-Depot.com (ESD) is a cloud-based SaaS platform and thriving community—serving as the ultimate hub for sailors looking to embrace clean, quiet, and eco-friendly electric propulsion. ESD empowers the community with the knowledge, resources and connections needed to replace noisy, polluting diesel engines with sustainable solutions, making sailing more enjoyable while driving the future of greener, more responsible sailing.
Problem
Sailboat owners face significant challenges with traditional diesel or petroleum-powered boats—dealing with excessive noise, pollution, and ongoing maintenance issues. Along with these technical frustrations, many struggle with a lack of inspiration, resources and guidance when considering a shift to electric propulsion. There was no community support, leaving sailors without a Digital platform to connect, share ideas, or learn from one another. Knowledge gaps about electric systems and the complexity of finding trustworthy vendors further complicate their journey, making the transition to sustainable, electric sailing feel overwhelming and inaccessible.
Solution
Provis Technologies developed a cloud-based SaaS platform that empowers sailors and community members to take control of their transition to electric-powered sailing. The platform provides step-by-step resources, guides, and knowledge to support users in converting their sailboats into clean, quiet, eco-friendly vessels. Mr. Andrew Ward, an electric sailing evangelist, envisioned creating a community where sailors could connect, support one another, and embrace the transformation to sustainable electric sailing. However, turning this vision into a cohesive digital solution proved challenging—until Provis Technologies stepped in to make it a reality.
The Beginning of Transformation
Mr. Andrew's aspirations aligned perfectly with Provis Technologies expertise. After multiple rounds of discussions, the teams worked together to understand the core challenges and craft a comprehensive plan. They envisioned a bold solution: A SaaS Community platform with 4 different pillars or modules to create a one stop sustainable community.
The plan was ambitious. Provis Technologies proposed building the platform using the latest technologies, leveraging a microservice architecture model on a cloud platform. The backend would be powered by Laravel, the frontend would use NextJs. We developed these features:
