The unserviced stationery/general stores model was made future-ready

Who is TrueWholesale and what was the mission they wanted to give expression to?

As the website of the TrueWholesale describes its mission:

“TrueWholesale is a B2B online store for shop owners & businesses to source their General & Stationery inventory. TrueWholesale offers a large variety of products at a single place and ensures next day delivery. Shop owners & businesses can order their inventory through smartphones, anytime of the day, saving their precious time to deal with customers.”

When TrueWholesale approached Provis, it wanted to implement its driving purpose to “empower traditionally unserviced stationery and general stores through a future-ready distribution model”.

The brief that TrueWholesale gave Provis as a starting point

TrueWholesale explained to Provis that it wanted to give its partners – the various manufacturers of stationery and general stores goods – the “power of direct distribution without getting into distribution directly”.

TrueWholesale wanted to become the wholesale hub or platform through which various branded goods manufacturers could deal with their bulk buyers.

Its platform, it believed, should help maximize availability of various product ranges resulting in direct improvement of sales and margins for wholesalers. It should enable the right pricing and schemes to end retailers. Further, the control on price undercutting should lead to higher interest by retailers and improved brand retention.

The platform also needed to be such that TrueWholesale and its brand partners would be able to better understand product-wise performance and measure the impact of promotions and schemes to maximize ROI.

What did Provis envisage as a solution for TrueWholesale
and what was the challenge?

Provis instantly knew that TrueWholesale needed a software solution in which the web-app platform should work like a one stop B2B solution for stationery products. It also needed to be a platform where wholesalers and retailers could place orders from the platform − and they could get the ordered products delivered to them within a day.

In short, the platform would need to be responsive to ease and speed of transaction, which is the whole purpose of digitalization. Hitherto, this model had not been used in the largely physical ordering system that wholesale distribution was based on.

The main challenge that Provis faced was to manage the product stock and to route deliveries optimally - so that products don't get out of stock for retailers to order, due to high demand. Provis decided initially to use QuickBooks for the inventory management … but when it didn't work out, they settled on a switch to Zoho.

How did Provis architect the final solution to match the client’s requirements?

The Provis team developed the frontend of the platform with Vue.js and used Laravel for the backend.
Among the features and functionalities built into the platform were these:
01

The retailers/customers using the platform were enabled to register on the platform.

02

They were then allowed to browse for (or search for) products they desired to buy.

03

The platform facilitated their purchases in bulk thus affording them good discount prices.

04

Payment on the app was set up via UPI using Razorpay as the payment gateway.

Overall, the best achievement of Provis was in providing smooth disruption-free working of the platform.

This required implementation of the TrueWholesale project in phase-wise order, with quality control at every stage to achieve working functionality of every module, perfectly as per client requirement and expectations.

Words from the client that made us feel proud of our achievement!

It was extra special for us to hear from the client these words of praise for our solution:

Quotes

“Amazing and quality work as expected. Everything was planned and executed without any delay or rework.”

-- Director, Truewholesale

We, at Provis, value such words of appreciation we have received from our client for the work we completed to their satisfaction. More than that, we value the long-term relationship we have built with our client.

Two things have remained vital to Provis in this project. One, was performance efficiency of our platform. Two, we wanted to give our platform the ability to handle orders at scale and speed. In business, especially where bulk purchases are concerned, and the competition and pricing models are fierce, being able to close deals with lightning quickness is paramount. We’re glad we did not let our client down in his high expectations of us on these two fronts.
