Case study AI app

How Provis built Chitra, an AI app that makes branded social media posts in 9 Indian languages.

Chitra is Provis's own product: a phone app that turns one sentence or a voice note into a finished post with the business's logo, colours, caption and hashtags. Provis built all of it: the Flutter app, the AI backend, the payments, the website and the admin tools.

At a glance

  1. Problem

Small businesses need to post often, in their own language and brand, and have no designer. Generic AI tools give output that does not look like the brand.

  2. Solution

A chat-style app that makes the artwork, caption and hashtags from one sentence or a voice note, with the brand kit applied to every post.

  3. Result

A product live on Google Play and the App Store, working in 9 Indian languages, with a website, a blog, payments and an agency partner dashboard.

The situation

Making one good post took a small business owner most of an hour.

Chitra is for shop owners, restaurants, salons, boutiques, coaches, clinics and real-estate agents. The website says a small business owner ends up acting as designer, copywriter and social-media manager.

This is how a post got made before, from the product's own pitch on its website and store listing.

How a small business made a social media post

  1. Think of what to postevery time
  2. Find a designer or a templatesomeone else's layout
  3. Write the captionand look up hashtags
  4. Re-apply the brandcolours and logo, each time
  5. Post itin one language, if time allows

The website puts this at "30–60+ minutes" a post, against "ready in minutes" with Chitra.

The problems, and what fixed each

Making a picture was the easy part. Getting it right for a real business was not.

These are four problems Provis hit on real posts and real users, and what fixed each.

  1. The brand logo and name came out wrong on posts

Testers saw the logo hovering half off the band, covering the headline, and the tagline missing. A bug in the logo step meant some posts silently lost the logo, name and tagline. Sale scenes also drew a real third-party brand as set dressing.

What Provis builtThe logo as a reference image, so nothing is pasted on afterwards

The default is now one image call that gets the brand name and tagline in the prompt and the logo file as the last reference image, so the brand mark is part of the artwork and can't be sliced. Prompts forbid real third-party brands unless the user named one. Users with no logo get an initials badge.

  2. Posts came out in the wrong language or with an invented date

A Hindi-app user typed "Diwali offer" in Latin letters and got a full English poster and caption. Another asked for a banner for "next week" and the poster printed a date the user never gave.

What Provis builtThe app's language wins, and only a real date becomes a date

The app sends its own language with every request, and that language wins. A phrase that names one day ("tomorrow", "this Friday") becomes a date; a range ("next week", "soon") counts as no date, and the chat asks. Hindi spelling is one form across captions and posters, and taller line height stops Indic scripts overlapping.

  3. Users were charged for posts the AI provider never made

When the image provider ran out of credit, the app still delivered a placeholder image and took a post from the user's allowance.

What Provis builtA failed call fails the post and refunds it

A failed provider call now fails the post and refunds the allowance. A breaker trips after a payment error from the provider, and a scheduled job alerts on low balance. Every generation attempt is logged with provider, model, tokens, estimated cost and outcome, and the admin panel has a Generation costs page.

  4. A daily cap that did not fit how people pay

The first model was a fixed number of posts a day.

What Provis builtA weekly free quota, credit bundles and subscriptions

A weekly free quota (5 posts a week by default), one-time credit bundles that each expire on their own, and auto-renewing subscriptions through Razorpay on Android and Apple In-App Purchase on iPhone. The weekly quota is tied to the real phone number, so deleting and re-registering does not reset it.

How the work ran

Built in four phases, from the first app to AI video.

  1. Phase 1, July 2026Started from the Gyanee.ai app, also built by Provis; a new Chitra app, icon and theme
  2. Phase 2, August 2026Hindi, Sign in with Apple, Razorpay and Apple IAP, brand on posts, weekly quota; App Store 1.0 on 21 Aug
  3. Phase 3, September 20269 languages, cost logging, AI label, WordPress blog, multiple brand kits, referrals, agency partners, analytics dashboard, product catalog
  4. Phase 4, October 2026Festival posts with a morning push, AI video with Google Veo, an admin settings page, editing a named post from chat
  • What was built: a chat-style post maker (type or speak one line, attach a photo), a brand kit applied to every post, 4 to 8 second AI video and an analytics dashboard.

  • Plans and payments: a weekly free quota, credit bundles and subscriptions through Razorpay and Apple In-App Purchase.

    Razorpay Apple
  • Hardest part: the brand mark on every poster size. Four approaches were compared on real prompts; the logo as a reference image is now the default.

  • What changed on the way: a daily cap became a weekly quota, three captions became one, and a client-approval step was built, then removed.

Responsible AI:

Every image says it was made with AI.

Each image carries the words “Created with Chitra AI”, and AI-provenance metadata (XMP and EXIF) is written into the file.

An AI disclosure page, published in all 9 languages.

Each chat message gets an intent check, and content guardrails include an 18+ guardrail.
